Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 July 2026
Good on Purpose (“Good on Purpose”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
By using our website, taking the Organisational Health Check, or contacting us, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
We collect personal information in a small number of ways.
When you take the Organisational Health Check
We collect your name, email address, your organisation’s name, your role, and your answers to the questions. We use this to generate and send your personalised report, and, if you have agreed, to follow up with you about it.
When you book a conversation with us
We collect your name, email address, and any scheduling details you provide, so we can arrange and hold the meeting.
When you contact us
If you email us or send us a message, we collect your name, email address, and whatever you choose to tell us, so we can respond and keep a record of our correspondence.
When you use our website
Like most websites, ours and the tools we use may automatically collect limited technical information, such as your general location, device and browser type, and the pages you visit. This helps us understand how the site is used and keep it working well. See the section on cookies below.
We do not collect sensitive information about you, and we ask that you do not send it to us unless it is necessary for the work we are doing together.
Your health check answers are confidential
We take the promise on our website seriously: your answers stay between us. Your individual responses to the Organisational Health Check are treated as confidential. We do not publish them, share them with other organisations, or sell them. We may use answers in an aggregated and anonymised form, meaning combined with others and with all identifying details removed, to understand common patterns across the sector and improve the health check. No individual or organisation can be identified from information used in this way.
How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Create and send your health check report
- Respond to your enquiries and arrange conversations
- Provide, manage and improve our services to you
- Send you information you have asked for or agreed to receive
- Meet our legal and record-keeping obligations
If we have sent you marketing or follow-up emails, you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link, or by emailing us. We will stop.
The tools we use
We use a small number of trusted third-party providers to run our website and services, such as the platform that hosts the health check, our scheduling and email tools, and our website host. These providers process your information only to provide their service to us, and some of them store data outside New Zealand.
We choose providers that offer appropriate protections for your information. If any of these change, we will update this policy.
Storing your information overseas
Because some of the tools we use are based outside New Zealand, your personal information may be stored and processed overseas, including in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. Where we disclose information to an overseas provider, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by comparable safeguards to those under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
How we keep your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, and disclosure. This includes limiting who can access it, using reputable providers with their own security measures, and keeping our own devices and accounts secure. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but if a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.
How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it. Health check responses and enquiry records are kept while they remain useful to us and to you, and are then deleted or anonymised. Where we have worked together, we keep records for the length of our engagement and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our legal and business obligations. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
Sharing your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We will only share it:
- With the third-party providers we use, so they can provide their service to us
- Where you have asked us to, or given your consent
- Where we are required to by law, or to protect our legal rights
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, email us using the details below. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 20 working days at the latest. There is no charge for making a request, though in some cases a reasonable charge may apply for larger requests, and we will always tell you first.
Cookies
Our website and the tools we use may use cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files stored on your device that help the site function and help us understand how it is used. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when they are used, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top, and the current version will always be available on our website. We encourage you to review it occasionally.
Making a complaint
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner:
