Kia ora, I’m Shawn Reddy. I have spent a decade managing and leading in the not-for-profit sector, from the front line through to the chief executive’s chair and the board table.
The details differ from organisation to organisation, but the load on leaders is remarkably similar everywhere: rising demand, tightening funding, a growing compliance pile, and the quiet weight of being the person everyone looks to. None of that is a sign something is wrong. They are the marks of an organisation doing real work in a demanding season, and every one of them responds to the same thing, strong foundations underneath the passion.

Funding is a normal constraint for charities. Leadership teams and boards spend a great deal of time working to secure and grow it, and rightly so. But success in funding rarely comes from funding alone. It depends on growth and development in the other key areas of the organisation.
An organisation’s funding seldom grows because it asks more often. It grows when it can show funders exactly what is changing for the people it serves, and it can only show that when its services run consistently enough to measure. Funding, impact, and service delivery are not three separate problems. They are one system, and every pillar holds up the others.
That is why Good on Purpose exists. We walk alongside leaders to strengthen the areas that hold an organisation up, so a little structure in the right place can lift everything else.

People come into this sector because they care, and that care is the whole point. Organisations seldom struggle for lack of purpose. They struggle when the systems and structures that keep purpose alive have not yet caught up. Good on Purpose exists to put strong foundations under that care, so services stay steady and the people holding them up feel supported, not alone.
